In the heart of Kiambu County, Kenya, a resilient group of women and their community of 3,200 have experienced profound transformation—one driven by clean water, health, and dignity.
With clean water now flowing reliably, our team recently partnered with Kenyan medical experts to host two separate multi-day WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) popup clinics, one of which took place right on this very women’s community grounds. These life-changing clinics were made possible by you—our dedicated changemakers—along with Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective. Word of the free healthcare services spread quickly, drawing hundreds of community members to the water kiosk.
The atmosphere of the air was filled with warmth and gratitude. As families waited for their turn to receive medical care and education, women braided each other’s hair, children laughed as they played, and elderly women sat in peace, knowing their community was being cared for.
Across the two days, 594 patients received critical medical attention, many for the first time in their lives. Health check-ups, waterborne disease testing, medical referrals, free medicine, and hygiene education were all provided, ensuring both immediate relief and long-term well-being. Clean water played a pivotal role. Without it, the cycle of waterborne illness and preventable disease would continue.
Winnie, a dedicated nurse and mother of four, spoke about the impact: “I’ve been a licensed nurse for the past 10 years, and as a mother of four girls, it feels fulfilling to give back and help other families. Water is life—without it, you can do nothing. Providing education on clean water and hygiene is invaluable for these communities.”
This clinic was more than just medical support. It was a beacon of hope, proving that with access to clean water, health, dignity, and opportunity can flourish. Together, we are laying the foundation for a healthier, stronger future with support and sustainability in mind.
