Stories of Strength
Elizabeth's Community Transformed

In nothern Kenya, Elizabeth once spent hours each day walking long distances to collect water while nearby fields dried under relentless heat. Farming was unpredictable, meals were limited, and many families lived season to season hoping the rains would come.

But since the arrival of the community clean water project, Elizabeth's daily life has been transformed.

“Before the water came, our land struggled to grow food,” Elizabeth says. “Now we grow maize, cassava, vegetables, and other crops. Water has made farming possible for our families.”

With reliable access to clean water, Elizabeth’s community has been able to plant more consistently, improve household nutrition, and restore farming activities that had nearly disappeared during years of drought. Families who once relied heavily on purchased food are now harvesting from their own land again.
The impact has been measurable. Crop yields have increased by 300%, while waterborne illness has dropped by 48% in a year, allowing families to spend less time recovering from sickness and more time investing in their farms, children, and livelihoods.

For Elizabeth, the biggest change is the sense of stability the project has brought to her family’s future.“Now when my children come home, there is food,” she says. “We are no longer afraid of the dry season the way we used to be.”

What began as a water access project has become something much more: renewed health, stronger harvests, and the return of possibility for families.
